The League of Women Voters of Hamilton County will host several voter forums this fall to explain the voting process, from finding your voting location to ensuring that you are registered
to learning the requirements for early voting.

Ahead of the Nov. 8 general elections, the League of Women Voters of Hamilton County offers the nonpartisan election resource Vote411.org. This “one-stop shop” for election information provides access to candidate information, polling place locations and ways to check your registration, among other services.

The League of Women Voters of Hamilton County will host two nonpartisan candidate forums this fall to give voters a chance to hear from candidates in time for the Nov. 8 general election.

As college students prepare for their moves to campus, their to-do lists should include more than their fall clothing, laptops and laundry supplies.

“Don’t forget to plan for voting this fall,” said Lisa Dick, League of Women Voters of Hamilton County president. “Those heading off to campus can make a
few plans right now to ensure an easy voting process
in November.”

The League of Women Voters of Hamilton County would like to alert residents to a bill in the General Assembly that would limit the voting process.

In the recent election season in Hamilton County, more than 75 percent of registered voters exercised their civic privilege, with more than half of those voters choosing absentee or early voting.

The Indiana Citizens Redistricting Commission (ICRC) will hold its final virtual public hearing on April 22nd.

The ICRC will sponsor virtual public meetings around the state to hear what redistricting criteria Hoosiers want to see followed when new districts are drawn. The ICRC is also interested in hearing from Hoosiers about the important communities of interest in their region and how they should be treated for purposes of redistricting. Information from these meetings will be compiled into a report that is given to the General Assembly before they begin redistricting later this year.

"The League of Women Voters supports the Freedom to Vote Act, a bill that protects and expands the right to vote, decreases the influence of money in politics, and curbs partisan gerrymandering."

The For the People Act is the democracy reform bill the American people want and deserve. This legislation will put power back into the hands of American voters by making voting easier and more accessible and by modernizing future elections.

Thursday night, the League of Women Voters board of directors met and voted unanimously to call for the immediate removal of Donald J. Trump from the office of the President of the United States of America via any legal means, including and in order of preference: impeachment with disqualification, the invocation of the 25th amendment, or resignation. Today the League of Women Voters of the United States president Dr. Deborah Turner, CEO Virginia Kase, and the full board of directors issued the following statement in response to the violent demonstrations at the U.S. Capitol:

“This is a dark day in the history of the United States of America. Today’s activity on Capitol Hill should have been a procedural exercise to finalize the 2020 election. Instead, our nation's Capitol was attacked by domestic terrorists seeking to invalidate the will of the people.

“The actions by these terrorists have no impact on the results of the election. This violent mob was encouraged by an outgoing president who lost re-election in a free and fair election.

Today the League of Women Voters of the United States CEO Virginia Kase issued the following statement ahead of this week’s joint session of Congress to count and certify the Electoral College votes:

“This week, Congress will count the Electoral College votes as required by the Constitution and affirm Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States. Any objection to this process is simply political theater which directly mocks and defies our Constitution. Still, these actions will not change the legally proven result of the 2020 election.
